• Double stencil sheets are not required but they do make the process faster and easier. Stencil images that are needed more than once can be etched on later.

Project Steps

1. After preparing the glass, position the letters for the words near the top of the canister. See the lettering tutorial if necessary. Place the cat or dog stencil under the words and on the left or right of the jar. The tree will be added later to the design next to the animal so leave plenty of room. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch these onto the canister.
• This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously. Additionally, it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
2. Looking through the back of the canister, position the tree as close to the words and animal as possible. Place the ornaments, stockings, candy cane and gingerbread men in a scattered pattern around the bottom of the canister. Use the etching cream, as before, to add these to the design.
3. Position more stocking, ornaments, and gingerbread stencils in the empty space around the tree. Use the etching cream again to add these last elements to the design.
