Project Steps

1. This design was etched in stages. The technique enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit. It also allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously.
2. This design used the hover and press method to place stencil images in spots where the necessary view is obscured by stencil borders. The technique is done by placing stencils sticky side up, holding the glass over the stencil and maneuvering it in air before pressing it down onto the stencil.
3. Select 2 different bow stencils and place each as close to the rim of the flute as possible. To etch all 4 glasses at once requires 2 bow stencil sheets, otherwise, etch 2 at a time.
4. Follow the etching cream instructions to etch the bows onto the flutes.
5. Thoroughly clean the glass. Looking through the back of the glass, use the hover and press method to position the short, round ornament stencil very closely to the longest bows on the flutes. Do the same with the short bow and long ornament stencil.
6. Use the etching cream, as before, to add the ornaments to the flutes.
