Project Steps
- This design was etched in stages. The technique enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit. It also allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously.
- After preparing the glass, place the hat stencil onto the glass pitcher and rocks glass making sure it has plenty of room above it to add the bird later on. On the pitcher, position the monocle stencil under the hat so it appears to be covering one eye.
- Follow the etching cream instructions to etch both hats and the monocle.
- Thoroughly clean the glass. Look through the back of the glass to position the bird feet so they are touching the hat when you place the bird stencil.
- Place the mustache and tie stencil relative to the monocle on the glass. Covering the birds at the edges of the mustache is optional.
- Use the etching cream, as before, to etch the remaining elements onto the glass.
