Project Steps
- This design was etched in stages. The technique allows the use of a particular stencil image multiple times on the same project when you don't have enough to etch all simultaneously. Additionally, it enables stencil images to be placed in closer proximity than the stencil borders would otherwise permit.
- After preparing the glass, draw a centerline down the back. See the lettering tutorial if necessary. On the front, place the O on the centerline up at the rim of the plate with F and R on either side. Add the snowflakes. Continue add letters around the rim working outward from the snowflakes.See the lettering tutorial if necessary.
- Center a gingerbread man on the line in the middle of the plate with a snowflake above and bellow as shown. Equally space the other snowflakes around the gingerbread man.Cover a bit of the gingerbread man's head with tape to make it flat instead of round. Place the desired gingerbread man features into the stencil frame and press them down firmly.
- Follow the etching cream instructions to etch these onto the plate.
- Looking through the back of the plate, place the chef hat stencil over the gingerbread man so it is sitting just above his head. Cover the mustache securely with masking tape. Looking through the back, position a tree and candy cane on either side of the gingerbread man on the front.
- Along the bottom rim of the glass, place the reindeer on the centerline. Working outward from the reindeer, place the letters along the rim. Position a holly leaf cluster at the end of the words.
- Follow the etching cream instructions to etch these onto the plate.
